Glencar Celtic’s joint managers Junior Russell and Garvan Grieve were in jubilant mode yesterday after a fine 4-1 win at Milford United.

Glencar are four points clear at the top of the Saturday League with Strand Rovers having been held by Orchard yesterday.

Goals by Shane Hilley, Lee McMonagle, Marty Brogan and Kieran Doherty handed Glencar a big away win.

Garvan: “We were three up at half-time last week and lost 4-3,” Grieve said.

“We were keen to not let that happen again. We got over the line. We kept it tight at the back and got the win.”

Russell believes Glencar will dig deep over the festive season and put a push for honours in 2018.

He said: “Thank God, we came out on top. You have to work really hard. It can be easy to lose momentum, but we’ve all agreed that we’ll stay at it.”
