Man pleads not guilty to setting fire to apartment block

A young Letterkenny man has pleaded not guilty to setting fire to an apartment block.

Sean Strain, aged 21, appeared at Letterkenny Circuit Court where a jury was sworn in for the case.

Mr Strain denies arson at Westside Apartments on November 25th, 2016.

The witnesses in the case include apartment resident Martin Toye and his aunt Kathleen Gibbons who was visiting him at the time of the fire.

Strain, of Ros Suile, Oldtown, Letterkenny pleaded not guilty to the only charge put before him.

Judge John Aylmer swore in a jury today and the case, which is expected to be heard tomorrow (Fri), is expected to last just one day.
