Ballybofey butchers, McConnell’s Meats have taken two big titles at the prestigious Butchery Excellence International Awards.

McConnell’s were named as Butcher Shop of the Year – Small and also the Best Online Butchery Business of the Year, beating off stiff competition to win both awarfs.

Hosted by TV Presenter Pamela Ballantine, at the City North Hotel, Gormanston, County Meath, the Butchery Excellence International Awards lead the way in celebrating and acknowledging traditional butchery skills, whilst rewarding innovative and new techniques and products that are required to excel in a modern Butchery environment.

“The quality and variety of the range at McConnell’s Butchers is very impressive and indeed the quality of this business is excellent. As our top small butcher shop in Ireland we recognise that this shop is simply outstanding,” remarked the Mystery Shopper, who visited the shop, on Main Street in Ballybofey.

Shane McConnell of McConnell’s Butchers said: “This prestigious award is a great acknowledgement of the superior standards that we aim to deliver to our customers every day. This award would not have been possible without the excellent team at “McConnell’s Meats” and it’s great to be able to say that we came out on top in this very tough category.”

McConnell Meats launched their online ordering and delivery website, Moo.ie, in June 2017. Moo.ie, which stands for ‘Meat Ordering Online’, was borne from parents coming into the shop to buy meat for their sons and daughters before they left for their third level education in Dublin, Galway and further afield.

Parents wanted to ensure that their children had quality meats from a reliable source during their tenure away from home.

Shane McConnell said: “We can deliver to anywhere in the country overnight. The boxes are temperature controlled and stay below 5 degrees Celsius for 48 hours.” Moo.ie also ensures that elderly relatives, people in rural areas and people who are unable to leave their homes, can have their weekly shop delivered to their door, with ease and professionalism.

“Online presence is an important part of this great business; their sales and marketing strategy have been excellent and has helped to prove that promoting your business online, works. Shane has developed a state of the art butchery website (www.moo.ie) which is second to none on the market.”
