Concern has been expressed at the high volume of walkovers being recorded in the Donegal All-County Football Leagues.
There were a total of 120 walkovers in 2017.
The biggest number was in Division 3 Reserve where there were 33.
There were 23 walkovers in Division 1 Reserve, 18 in Division 5, 14 in Division 2 Reserve, 13 in Division 4 Reserve and seven in the Hurling League.
In Division 4, there were six walkovers, with three in Division 3, two in Division 2 and one in Division 1.
“This is a major concern,” CCC Secretary Declan Martin said.
“A total of just less than 18 per cent of all League matches were not played. This includes a number of games where teams withdrew from the competitions.
“In relation to Reserve and Third team games, a total of 29 per cent were not played.
“Reserve football is a major problem across all divisions with a lot of walkovers being awarded.
“This is a problem for the clubs who cannot field, but it is also a major issue for the clubs who find out late on a weekend that they have no games as their players have already arranged work schedules and miss work shifts as a result.”
The CCC Secretary said his committee found it difficult to keep fixtures going regularly later in the year when teams who are out of the Championship have outstanding games against teams who are still in Championship competition.
He added: “Overall, the CCC have tried to keep clubs playing football as regularly as possible in 2017. There were extra challenges this year as the new rule introduced into the Official Guide which meant that anyone outside the 26 man match day panel were allowed to play in the matches games.
“This made matching the games very difficult and led to a number of unmatched games across the top two divisions.”
