Watch: Seamus Coleman’s heartfelt touch makes Irish Everton fans’ dreams come true

SEAMUS COLEMAN has long since been known as legend in these parts and the Republic of Ireland skipper helped make two Everton fans’ day recently.

Killybegs native Coleman, not too far off a first team return for Everton following a leg break suffered for Ireland against Wales in March, donated €2,000 to enable Francis Conmey, a lifelong Everton supporter with Asperger’s syndrome, to visit Goodison Park.

Francis met fellow Toffees’ fan Eoin Mulligan at SuperMac’s in Athlone and the pair were to travel to Everton’s Europa League clash against Croatia’s Hadjuk Split in a Europa League qualifier in August.

However, their plans were scuppered as Francis felt unwell and in the aftermath, Eoin set up a ‘gofundme’ page to try and raise money to make the trip to Liverpool. Coleman donated to make their dream possible and following Everton’s 4-0 win over West Ham United met up with his fellow Irishmen, much to the delight of Francis in particular, as Coleman is his favourite player.
