Daniel’s shopping nightmare turns into something very special

A dreaded Christmas shopping trip with his wife turned into something a lot more pleasurable for singer Daniel O’Donnell.

The Donegal singer admits that it’s his wife Majella who organises all their Christmas shopping.

So the 56-year-old wasn’t exactly relishing the prospect of a day trudging through the sales in Dublin.

But what Majella didn’t tell Daniel was that she had something a lot different planned for him.

Daniel revealed “It’s not very often I get surprised with presents but this morning Majella suggested we go to Dublin for the sales to go shopping.

“On our arrival she told me we were actually going to see The Sound of Music in the Bord Gais Theatre.

“It’s my favourite movie of all time and the stage musical certainly didn’t disappoint.”

The singer went backstage after the show and raved about the performances.

“Celine Byrne played the part of Mother Abbess. Fantastic version of Climb Every Mountain, I had goose-bumps listening to her sing it.

“Lucy O’Byrne played the part of Maria and she was as good as Julie Andrews in the original. The whole show is just fantastic,” he raved.
