Seamus Coleman still ‘way off’ injury return – Allardyce

Seamus Coleman remains ‘way off’ a return to action with Everton, new Toffees boss Sam Allardyce has said.

The Killybegs man has been sidelined since suffering a horrific double leg break in March.

Coleman sustained the injury playing for the Republic of Ireland against Wales in a World Cup qualifier at Aviva Stadium.

There had been suggestions that the full-back could return by the end of the year, but Allardyce poured cold water on that notion.

The Irish captain watched as Everton struggled in the early part of this season before sacking Ronald Koeman and replacing him with Allardyce.

Coleman’s absence has certainly hurt Everton and Allardyce said: “Seamus Coleman is still a way off. That’s one we would like to get back.”

Since Allardyce’s arrival, Everton have turned their fortunes and are up to ninth in the table.
