Storm Eleanor is leaving its mark across Donegal tonight with home owners and motorists urged to take care.

Met Éireann issued a status yellow warning for this evening and the county has been awash for the last few hours.

The main Lifford-Letterkenny road is flooded in place and extreme caution is advised.

In Newtowncunningham, the roads in the village are impassable at both ends while the streetlights have gone out.

The road from Derry-Killea is impassable from the Foyle Road.

There is a lot of surface water on the road between Stranorlar and Convoy towards Kilross.

In Inishowen, roads around Carndonagh, Buncrana, Muff, Moville, Bridgend are said to be particularly bad with emergency services attending to flooding in Carndonagh and Burnfoot.

The Tul na Rí in Carndonagh was reported to have been evacuated this evening while over 1,000 homes in Buncrana were left without power earlier this evening.

Motorists in Donegal town have been advised to move their cars out of the Quay Road car park, which is now a severe flood risk.
