Martin Harley had two winners yesterday on his first day back in the saddle in 2018.

After a fine end to 2017, the Trentagh man was in action for the first time since the turn of the calendar’s page yesterday.

Harley won on 4/6 favourite Arcanada at Lingfield before taking victory aboard the 5/1 shot Thaqaffa at Kempton Park.

Arcanada eased to victory from the 11/2 Gabrial. Arcanada, trained by Tom Dascombe, led from a furlong out and cruised by the winning post with almost two lengths to spare.

In the late race at Kempton, the 32Red Casino Handicap, Harley made good headway on Amy Murphy’s Thaqaffa and had a comfortable two-and-a-half-length advantage at the conclusion, winning from Conkering Hero.

Trentagh man Harley had 71 wins in 2017 and has got 2018 off to a good start.
