Donegal death notices for today, Saturday, January 20.

 

Carmel O’DOWD (née Kingston)
The death has occurred of Carmel O’Dowd (nee Kingston), Tirhomin, Milford, Co. Donegal & South Africa (late of Drimoleague, Co. Cork) 19th January 2018, peacefully at home. Deeply regretted by her loving husband Michael, daughter Niamh, son Desmond; daughter in-law Lisa, son in-law Ryan; Grandchildren Oscar, Tara, Ruby, Oran & Art; her brother John, sisters Gay & Sheila; sisters-in-law Teresa, Noreen, Norma, Deirdre & Gerry; brother-in-law Gearoid; nieces & nephews & wide circle of friends.

Reposing at the Eternal Light Funeral Home, Letterkenny from 1pm to 3pm on Saturday the 20th of January 2018. A Service of Thanksgiving for Carmel’s life will be held at the Pavilion, Rosapenna Golf Club, Downings at 1pm on Sunday the 21st of January 2018, followed by Private Cremation. Family flowers only please, donations in lieu of flowers to the Donegal Hospice c/o Mc Elwee Funeral Directors or any family member. House strictly private.

 

George DOHERTY
The death has occurred of George Doherty, Magheralosk, Bunbeg, Donegal.

Reposing at his late residence. Removal on Sunday, 21st January, at 12.30pm to St. Mary’s Church, Derrybeg for Funeral Mass at 1pm followed by burial afterwards in Magheragallon Cemetery. Rosary both nights at 9pm. House private from 10pm to 10am and on the morning of the funeral. Family flowers only, donations, if desired, to Donegal Cancer Flights.

 

R.J (Bert) CAMPBELL
The death has occurred of R.J (Bert) Campbell, 19th January 2018, at his residence Ardeen, Ramelton, Co. Donegal. R.J. Campbell (Bert) dearly loved husband of Anne & dear father of John, Grier & Ruth, and brother of Professor W.C. Campbell. Deeply regretted by his sorrowing wife, sons, daughter, brother,sister, relatives & friends.

Reposing at his home from 2pm today, Saturday, until 10pm & on Sunday from 2pm to 10pm. Family time on the morning of the funeral. Funeral leaving his home at 1.30pm on Monday the 22nd for 2pm Funeral Service in Ramelton Presbyterian Church followed by interment in Bank Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations, in lieu, to R.N.L.I., care of McElwee Funeral Directors or any family member.

 

Kathleen CADOGAN (née McNeela)
The death has occurred of Kathleen Cadogan (née McNeela), Leixlip Park, Kildare / formerly of Creeslough, Donegal / Skibbereen, Cork.
Kathleen, beloved wife of the late Bernard, and dear mother of Martin, Patrick and Aidan. Deeply regretted by her loving family, brothers Sean and Martin, sisters Mary, Margaret and Nora, daughters-in-law Jerri and Cindy, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and a large circle of friends.

Reposing at Cunninghams Funeral Home, Chapel Hill, Lucan on (Sunday) evening from 6.00 o’c to 8.00 o’c. Removal to the Church of Our Lady’s Nativity, Leixlip on (Monday) morning for Requiem Mass at 11.00 O’Clock. Removal on (Tuesday) morning to St. Comghgall’s Church, Lisheen, Church Cross, Skibbereen arriving for prayers at 2.00 O’clock followed by burial in adjoining cemetery. Family flowers only, please. Donations, if desired, to St. Francis Hospice, Blanchardstown.

 

Brenda AHERNE (née Mc Bride)
The death has taken place at Letterkenny University Hospital of Brenda Aherne, Tullanascreen, Churchill. Formally from Carrigart.

Remains will be reposing at her late residence. Requiem mass in St Columba’s Church Glenswilly at 11am on Sunday 21st January followed by burial in Carrigart cemetery. Family time from 10pm tonight, Friday 19th January until 12 noon tomorrow, Saturday 20th January and from 10pm tomorrow night. Family flowers only please, donations to the Polio Society of Ireland.

 

Charles (Charlie) BOYLE
The death has occurred of Charles (Charlie) Boyle, 3 Woodlawn, Stranorlar, Donegal, peacefully at Donegal Hospice, Letterkenny after a long illness, bravely borne. Beloved husband of Jane and much loved father of Paul and Oliver, devoted brother of Joe, Rose and the late Connie. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his loving sons, grandson Charlie,daughters-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, ex-colleagues, neighbours and friends.

Remains reposing at his home from 5pm on Saturday Jan 20th until rosary at 10 pm and on Sunday Jan 21st from 12 noon until rosary at 10 pm. Funeral leaving his home on Monday Jan 22nd at 10.30am for Requiem Mass in the Church of Mary Immaculate, Stranorlar at 11 am, with interment afterwards in Holy Cross Churchyard, Dunfanaghy. Family time on the morning of the funeral.
