Listen: Matthew Byrne says Inishowen are focussed on long Oscar Traynor run

Matthew Byrne says Inishowen are gunning for another lasting run in the Oscar Traynor Trophy.

A 4-0 win over the Donegal League last night, confirming a 6-0 aggregate win, fired Diarmuid O’Brien’s men to a meeting with the Defence Forces in the next round.

“It was a good performance. Everyone played well and we’re happy to come away with that,” Glengad man Byrne said.

Inishowen lost out to Clare in last season’s final and have been one of the main challengers in this competition in recent seasons.

With the addition of Thomas McMonagle and the return from injury of Kieran McDaid, Inishowen are looking particularly strong again.

Byrne said: “We want the squad to work well and for everyone to be battling for their position. We always put a lot of commitment into this competition so we’re hoping to keep our good run going.”
