Donegal schools were well represented as the Republic of Ireland Schools U18 side had a useful Centenary Shield warm-up win over Dundalk on Saturday.

St Eunan’s College’s James Carolan scored one of the goals in a 4-1 win over the Lilywhites at Abbotsown.

The Irish side is managed by Cockhill’s William O’Connor, the Finn Harps coach who is a teacher at Balbriggan Community College.

Carolan was joined Daniel Houghton and Kieran Farren (Carndonagh Community College) in the Irish side while Ollie Horgan and Mickey McGlynn are also part of the management.

O’Connor’s Centenary Shield side will feature an away fixture to Wales on February 15 in Cefn Druids as they kick start their campaign.

The St. Patrick’s Day celebrations will see the Republic of Ireland travel to Luton Town to take on their hosts England on March 16.
