Watch: Seamus Coleman showed no fear with this tackle on return to action tonight

TEN MONTHS AFTER picking up a horrible leg break, Seamus Coleman made his first appearance tonight.

The Killybegs native played 58 minutes as Everton’s Under-23 side enjoyed a 3-0 win over Portsmouth in the Premier League Cup.

The right-back made his first appearance since breaking his leg in a World Cup qualifier for the Republic of Ireland against Wales back in March 2017. Coleman did well in completing an hour before making way for Nathangelo Markelo.

By then, Everton were two goals to the good thanks to Nathan Broadhead’s tidy finish and a stunning dipping strike from Bassala Sambou, who added his second later in the second half to secure a win that boosts Everton’s chances of reaching the knockout rounds.
