Keith Cowan has put pen to paper on a new one-year contract at Finn Harps and is ready to end his injury nightmare.

Cowan has not played since October 2016 when he suffered a horrific knee injury in a game against St Patrick’s Athletic in Ballybofey.

Keith Cowan signs on at Finn Harps for another season with Harps boss Ollie Horgan. Picture by Geraldine Diver.

Cowan tore a cruciate ligament – the third time he endured that agony – and also snapped a knee cap after falling awkwardly in a challenge with Jamie McGrath.

Cowan missed all of last season, but the 32-year-old is poised to make a comeback.

“Keith had been a very dependable defender for me prior to that terrible injury he suffered,” Harps manager Ollie Horgan said.

“He’s done the rehab and it’s great to see him back. We will need his experience and hopefully now he can get his match fitness back to be play a big part for us this season.”
