Sommer Lecky broke her Irish Junior record as she retained the Scottish senior women’s high jump title today.

The Finn Valley AC teenager, who will go to the Commonwealth Games in Australia this year, took gold with a superb 1.86m leap.

Lecky (pictured with her coach Niall Wilkinson) won the same event with a 1.78m try last year.

Lecky not only improved on her 1.85m p.b, but her new mark is also a new Irish junior record.

A gold medalist in the Commonwealth Youth Games in the Bahamas last year, where she jumped 1.83m, Lecky excelled today at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow.

At the same Championships, Finn Valley’s Lauren Callaghan was third in the long jump.
