Noel McDermott will be laid to rest on Tuesday morning in Knockfola.

Cyclist Noel (43) tragically passed away on Friday following a road traffic collision in Gortahork.

Originally from Letterkenny, Noel later moved to Gaoth Dobhair where he lived with his three children and wife Aifric.

St Eunan’s GAA Club has paid a touching tribute to Noel, saying: “There are no words. We have lost a friend and clubmate. His family have lost a husband, a father, a son, a brother, an uncle, a brother-in-law.

“Rightly, he was recognised a couple of years ago as Club Person of the Year. An unsung hero, a volunteer in every sense of those words.”

Noel’s remains are reposing at his late residence at Chapel Road, Brinlack, with wake from 12 noon today, Sunday.

Funeral Mass will take place in St. Colmcille’s Church, Knoc Fola, on Tuesday at 11am, with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Family flowers only, please. Donations in lieu to Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Ireland and Donegal Hospice.
