Michael O’Connor in line to feature for Finn Harps in Portadown

Michael O’Connor is expected to feature again for Finn Harps in a pre-season friendly against Portadown at Shamrock Park this evening (kick-off 6pm).

The 19-year-old Shamrock Rovers striker, whose brother Ciaran is on the books at Harps, had been tipped to make a move to Rotherham United before the end of January.

However, Rotherham opted not to make a bid for O’Connor, who was said to be the subject of a €70,000 bid.

Last autumn, Burnley courted the player, who is now understood to be close to being unveiled as a Harps player, with a loan until, at least, the summer transfer window being mooted.

Were Ollie Horgan, the Harps manager, to land O’Connor, it would represent a significant coup for the Donegal club, that Ciaran O’Connor, Paddy McCourt and John O’Flynn are among those already on the books.

Triallist Raul De Silva, a defender, is also in line to feature again for Horgan’s men.

New signings like Aidan Friel, Sam Todd, Mark Coyle, Lee Toland and Jesse Devers could also be given a run.
