Gaeltacht Minister Joe McHugh yesterday launched a new Irish language app with dialect-specific learning tools.

The Government Chief Whip and Minister for the Gaeltacht visited the Muintearas Office in Gaoth Dobhair to launch the new “Aibítear na nAinmhithe agus na nÉan,” a free App of animals and birds, developed for primary school children.

Minister McHugh,“This is a great opportunity for children to learn the Irish phonetics in an entertaining and fun way. I am delighted that my Department were in a position to assist and support in the development of this fantastic learning tool, and I would encourage both schools and parents to use this new interactive and educational App.”

The launch came just before Safer Internet Day 2018, which is today, Tuesday 6th of February, where the aim is to promote safer and more responsible use of online technology and mobile phones, especially among children and young people across the world.

This App is now available through free download in the ‘App Store’ on an iPhone or ‘Google Play Store” on a Samsung, by inputting “Aibítear Mhuintearais.”
