Marty Gallagher targets a Championship win in 2018

Letterkenny’s Marty Gallagher has set himself a lofty target for 2018.

Gallagher has targeted winning the MSA British Rally Championship this year.

Gallagher and co-driver Dean O’Sullivan from Convoy will tackle the JBRC this year having performed pretty well in the event in 2017.

Indeed, they won the final round, the dramatic Rally Isle of Man

“The competition in the British championship is perhaps the best in Europe and we wanted to be fighting on the best stages once again,” Gallagher said.

Gallagher was on the podium three times last year, but had to retire from the Ulster Rally.

Gallagher is aiming to steer his Peugeot 208 to big prizes this time around.

He said: “Obviously we want to win the championship. That has to be the aim.

“Having done a season-and-a-half in the BRC, I feel I have a good advantage going into the first round – so long as the bad luck disappears! To be in the same car with Dean alongside will really help. I’m just pleased I haven’t scared him away yet!”
