Donegal County Council expect to begin construction of a new social housing scheme, comprising 29 houses in Letterkenny, by the third quarter of 2018.

The €5million development, situated at the Long Lane, Letterkenny, has been granted stage 2 approval from the department.

A housing and corporate services report to this week’s meeting of the Letterkenny Municipal District said the project was currently at design stage.

“The architect led design team has been appointed and has progressed the detail design,” the report said.

“It is expected that the project will be tendered in June 2018 with construction commencing in the third quarter of 2018.”

The development, with a budget of €4,966,234 will consist of 12 two-bed units, 14 three-bed units and two four-bed units.
