LyIT’s Divison One final with Garda College postponed due to weather forecast

Letterkenny Institute of Technology’s Rustlers CUFL Women’s Division One final against Garda College has become a casualty of this week’s awful weather forecast.

Johnny Baird’s LYIT were set to face Garda on Thursday afternoon at Abbotstown.

Last week, goals by Nicole Gordon, Amy Boyd and Lauren Cregan sealed a 3-0 win over GMIT at the Port Road.

However, this week’s final has been postponed.

Five days of extremely cold temperatures, ice and snowfall are in store this week as a Siberian weather blast hits Ireland.

The Status Yellow cold weather warnings were escalated to Status Orange for Dublin, Carlow, Kildare, Laois, Louth, Wicklow and Meath.

Heavy and persistent snow showers are expected on Tuesday, with the worst to hit on Thursday. Snow accumulations will reach disruptive levels by Thursday, forecasters say.
