The Captains Drive-in was well supported on Saturday 10th at Letterkenny Golf Club.

Before tee off Browns on the Green provided Tea & Coffee and the ladies club members laid on a lovely spread of cakes, sandwiches and assorted buns.

Nobody went onto the course hungry. A large crowd gathered on the first tee to watch the Lady Captain Maura Cavanagh, Captain Hugh McClafferty and President Brian Reilly tee off.

It was a three ball scramble and a shotgun start, while the weather may not have been ideal with some showers there was a big turn out and some good scores were posted at the end of the day.

Lady Captain Maura Cavanagh and Captain Hugh McClafferty made the presentations of prizes shortly after.

Eleanor O’Carroll, Tracy Spence and Jalisco Shortt came in first place with a great score of 46.8.

Margaret Harvey, John Doran and Noel Duggan came in second place with a score of 48.38 and in a close third place was Maureen Sweeney, Matthew Dunne and Henry McCahey with 48.66 points.

The was also a draw made from the names of paid up members for Free Sub next year.  The President Brian Reilly drew the luckily name from the hat, it being Jim McGlynn, many congrats to Jim and congratulations to Maura,Hugh and Brian as a great day was had by all.

On Sunday 11th there was a members competition.

John Hession (17.9) started the golfing season in style posting a winning score of 42 points. having got 2 birdies and 6 pars in the process. Kevin Kiely (7.7) who seems to be never very far away from the winning arena scored 38 points (bot) with Michael Collum (5.5) coming in third with 38 points. and winning Gross. Liam Sweeney (10.4) was close behind with 37 points. coming in fourth place.

The Drive-in marks the official start of the Golfing Season and everybody is looking forward to a good year of golf.  Letterkenny Golf Club is always interested in encouraging new members to the Golf Club for prices and options you can go to http://www.letterkennygolfclub.net/518-2/
