He’s a ‘marked’ man as The Chief hits 30!

There’ll be joint celebrations in both Dubai and Burtonport today with the news that one of Donegal’s best-known characters celebrates a milestone birthday!

Mark Forker, aka The Chief hits the big 3-0!

Formerly of this parish, Forker packed his (actually it’s ours) laptop a couple of years ago after declaring he was sick of writing the Lifford notes.

And after just a couple of weeks he landed himself a job in Dubai working for an online business publication.

He soon rose from the humble ranks of office cleaner at the publication to canteen boy serving all the junior reporters their lunch.

He now plies his trade as a senior business journalist (his words, not ours!)

Broseph Cup champions Noel and Mark Forker celebrate their epic win.

Not a bad footballer, he has graced countless pitches around the globe having played with Keadue Rovers, Finn Harps, Institute and Letterkenny Rovers.

He also played as part of the infamous Arranmore Four side for which Gerry Early is eternally grateful.

There are far-flung claims that he played semi-pro in Scotland but the only evidence of this are the remains of all the pies he once ate while polishing the boots of first-team players.

One of the most decent and jolly human beings about (again his words!), his partner Mairead will surely be urging him to hang up his boots now that he has hit 30!

Have a great day Chief – from all at the humble offices of Donegal Daily/Sport Hub/Donegal Woman/Derry Daily!
