Inishowen soccer stars Roma McLaughlin and Kieran McDaid won top gongs at the IT Carlow Clubs & Societies Awards.

McLaughlin won the award for women’s soccer after a stellar first season at IT Carlow, while McDaid’s return from injury coincided with him being named winner of the men’s soccer award.

Shelbourne midfielder McLaughlin was in inspired form for IT Carlow this season, helping the, to victory in the WSCAI Kelly Cup, the CUFL Premier Division and the CUFL Women’s Futsal Cup.

The Republic of Ireland international was player of the tournament in the Futsal finals, scoring four goals and claiming four assists across the three games.

IT Carlow went on to beat UCC in the Kelly Cup final and Ulster University in the Premier Division final.

The women’s soccer team won the Team of the Year accolade.

Buncrana Hearts man McDaid had a torrid time of injuries last season, but the former Finn Harps midfielder is back to his best again and was in top form for IT Carlow this term. McDaid’s efforts were recognised as he scooped the men’s soccer prize.
