Donegal writer, director and actor Niall Mac Eachmharcaigh who was honoured at a special reception in the Dungloe Public Service Centre on Friday evening for his outstanding achievements. The reception on Friday afternoon was hosted by the Glenties Municipal District of Donegal County Council. Speaking at the special event, Cathaoirleach of the Municipal District Cllr Micheal Cholm MacGiolla Easbuig said he was delighted to be hosting this event in honour of Niall Mac Eachmharcaigh’s outstanding contribution as a writer, director and actor and in particular his contribution to the Irish language.

Cllr Micheal Cholm MacGiolla Easbuig said: “It is a great pleasure and honour for me coming from the same community and being a close personal friend of Niall’s to be in a position to host this special event to honour his contribution to the arts and in particular to the Irish language. Niall has continued the wonderful tradition of writing in our native language building on the rich legacy of our heritage in the Rann na Feirste community. He has written scores of plays and is renowned throughout the island of Ireland as a wonderful writer.”
