Understrength Kilcar have it all too easy for big win in Dungloe

Kilcar ran out easy winners against Dungloe at Rosses Park this afternoon.

Dungloe 1-8 Kilcar 4-14

Both sides lined out without a few familiar faces – for the visitors namely Patrick McBrearty, Stephen McBrearty, Eoin McHugh.

Kilcar raced into an early lead scoring 1-3 without reply in the first 6 minutes – points fomr Mark Sweeney, Matthew McClean and Brian O’Donnell and a goal from Ashley Carr before Ryan Greene pointed from a free for Dungloe.

Ciaran McGinley had his first goal shot saved by Sharkey in the Dungloe nets but Ashley Carr was on hand to fire over the rebound.

Ryan Connors and Ryan Greene kept the home side ticking over but a free from Matthew McClean was quickly followed by a goal from Gary Molloy as the game entered the half entered the last ten minutes.

The visitors were cruising as the half time break was nearing.

Again the two Ryan’s – Connors and Greene – hit two frees and a Noell McBride point kept their side on the scoreboard.

Matthew McClean hit a point before Ciaran McGinley ran at the Dungloe defence leaving Ciaran Sharkey no chanced in the Dungloe goals as he hit the visitors’ third goal of the game.

Mark McHugh hit his goal to leave the half time score Dungloe 0-6 Kilcar 4-6.

It was going to be an up hill battle for the home side as the second half started and again the visitors were the first to raise the white flag with points from Matthew McClean and Mark Sweeney with Gavin Ward hitting the home sides first score of the second half.

Kilcar had a point from Mark Sweeney before Ryan Connors scored Dungloe’s only goal of the game on 40 minutes.

Dungloe were reduced to 14 men when David McCarron was send off for a second booking.

A Matthew McClean free and point from Mark McHugh stretched the visitors lead further as the game entered the final few minutes.

Mark Sweeney hit the last two points of the game securing victory for the visitors in Rosses Park.
