Listen: Declan Bonner says Donegal ‘have to be at our best’ for Derry

Declan Bonner says Donegal have to be at their best on Sunday – and expects Derry to present his men with a ‘physical’ challenge.

Both Donegal and Derry might have suffered relegation, but Donegal’s drop was to Division 2 and Derry fell through the trapdoor to Division 4.

“I wouldn’t read too much into what happened Derry in the League,” Bonner said.

“They’ll have eight or nine changes, the Slaughtneil boys and Sean Leo (McGoldrick) back in again. That’ll give the Derry squad a massive lift.”

Bonner saw Donegal get their Championship bid off to a winning start against Cavan two weeks ago and believes his side will have to up the ante again.

Bonner said: “We will need to be at our best. We will face a more difficult test. It will be more physical and Celtic Park is a tight venue.

“We have to get the balance right and we’ve been working on that.”
