Disappointment for Donegal Rally fans as ‘Milkman’ withdraws

One of the Donegal Rally’s most popular competitors has withdrawn from this year’s event.

Last night, Declan Gallagher from Ardara confirmed on social media that he was withdrawing his entry ‘due to unforeseen circumstances.

In a short post, he wrote: “Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances we’ve had to withdraw our entry from the Donegal International rally .

“Wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable rally.”

‘The Milkman’ has been one of the exciting drivers over recent years and has always targeted Donegal, which he finished for the first time in a number of attempts in 2016.

His distinctive Toyota Starlet has wowed the crowds several times, but will now be absent from the start ramp at the Mount Errigal Hotel this morning.

Tune into Donegal Daily’s Facebook page, where we will be providing live coverage right throughout the 2018 Joule Donegal International Rally. Charlie Collins will anchor the coverage, with live end-of-stage and in-service reports from Chris McNulty and Toni Kelly. As well as the live coverage, a highlights package will also be available each evening.
