No joy for Martin Harley on big-priced mounts at Royal Ascot

Although he’d been in impressive form this year – riding 50 winners so far in 2018 – Martin Harley had no joy at Royal Ascot.

Harley six mounts during the meeting, with his best a fifth placed finish on Friday.

Riding the 8/1 priced Top Tug for Alan King, Harley couldn’t get close enough to make a big push having challenged the leaders early on.

Earlier on Friday, Harley sixth on Sheikhzayedroad, a 33/1 mount trained by David Simcock.

Harley’s other rides at Ascot were also big prices, including the 20/1 shot Meri Devie for Willie Mullins yesterday.

The Trentagh man has races at Chepstow and Windsor tomorrow.
