Donegal sweat as Patrick McBrearty has scan after Ulster final injury

Donegal forward Patrick McBrearty underwent a scan this morning on an injury he picked up early in the second half of yesterday’s Ulster final.

McBrearty limped out of the 2-18 to 0-12 win over Fermanagh after just three minuets of the second half.

McBrearty shipped a heavy knock at the end of the first half and another blow at the start of the second left him unable to continue.

With the game as good as won at that stage, Donegal took no chances and replaced the Kilcar man with Daire Ó Baoill.

McBrearty has been in superb form this year for Donegal.

The player was on crutches this morning, although that if often a precautionary measure in these cases.

“He probably is a concern, but the medical team, Cathal Ellis and Kevin Moran, will look after it and we’ll know more later,” Bonner said.

The Donegal manager admitted that the injury ‘doesn’t look great’, but was hopeful that the scan would show nothing serious, three weeks out from their first ‘Super 8’ game against Dublin at Croke Park.
