County Board to seek nominations for new treasurer

The Donegal County Executive are expected to invite nominations for the position of county treasurer.

Executive members met last night to discuss the resignation of Cieran Kelly from the role earlier this week.

St Naul’s clubman Kelly conveyed his decision to executive members on Tuesday morning in a text message, confirming his decision in an email to county secretary, Aideen Gallen.

There has been no official comment on the matter from the County Board.

However, clubs are to be notified of the decision and nominations for a replacement are to be sought in order to get the position filled.

Kelly, who succeeded Grace Boyle as treasurer in 2013, had just five months to go before he would have had to step down at this year’s Convention, when he would have reached the maximum permitted five years in the post.
