A motorist in Letterkenny has said they were almost put off the road this evening after their car was hit by water balloons.

The alleged incident occurred at the Mountain Top roundabout this Saturday evening at approx 6.30pm, where it is claimed that two teenage girls were throwing water balloons at passing traffic.

One concerned driver told Donegal Daily: “They just smacked our windscreen with water balloons and almost put us off the road.

“We stopped the car and they ran off and left a bag full of water balloons which we took. They must have been planning to be out for a while.

“It is just pure luck that they haven’t caused an accident.”

Drivers are being warned to exercise caution if passing through the area.
