Members of the Ballyliffin Golf Club are set to be honoured by Donegal County Council after the success of the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open.
It was agreed at today’s council meeting that a Civic Reception would be held to congratulate and recognise the achievement of the team who hosted the golfing event in July, which was hailed as a ‘game changer’ for Donegal.
Inishowen Cllr Martin McDermott led the tributes to the golf club, after which it was proposed to hold a formal event in their honour.
Cllr McDermott said the civic reception would “recognise the effort and time that has been put into the Irish Open and to acknowledge the showcasing of Donegal.”
The motion received widespread support, particularly from members of the Inishowen District. The event is expected to be held this coming September.
