A popular priest in having his beloved locks cut in a bid to raise much-needed funds for the youth of his local parish.

Fr Brian Ó’Fearraigh is renowned across West Donegal for his mane of generous hair.

But now the cleric has decided he’s for the chop in a bid to raise some much-needed cash.

The money raised will go towards providing a dedicated Youth Drop-In Centre, Ionad Óige Ghaoth Dobhair.

It is hoped that this multi-purpose Youth Resource Centre will meet the social, recreational, educational and personal needs of the community’s young people.

Fr Brian’s sponsored cut and shave will take in no less than three locations on September 15th next.

The first cut begins in Leo’s Tavern at 9.30pm, moving to Sean Óg’s for 10.30pm and finishing the shave in Teach Mhici at 11.30pm.

Fr Brian said “So please, come along and join us on the night! Ooops the most important part, dig deep my friends: PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE donate what you can to this cause.

“I look forward to seeing you on the night, when all this hair is clipped back from my eyes!”

So far a total of more than €600 has been raised from a target of €5,000.
