St. Michael’s overcame their near neighbours at the Bridge on Saturday evening last in front of a bumper crowd in a match played in gale force winds.

St. Michael’s 0-14 Cloughaneely 0-4

Both teams came into this encounter on the back of impressive unbeaten runs in recent weeks.

Playing with the wind in the first half the visitors scored four points from the boot of Denis Boyle.  Both teams struggled with the strong wind and the home side fought well to restrict the Cloughaneely attack while at the other end Christy Toye scored a point to leave the half time score St. Michael’s 0-1 Cloughaneely 0-4 as Denis Boyle scored a point from a free in the final minute of the half.

This was to be Cloughaneely’s last score of the game as they failed to raise a flag in the second half and playing with the wind St. Michael’s ran out comfortable winners with points from Colin McFadden, Andrew Kelly with 7 Christy Toye, Odhrán McFadden and Daniel McLaughlin scoring for the Bridge men as they used the windy conditions at the Bridge to their advantage.

Cloughaneely tried hard but were unable to get a foothold on the game in the second half and in the end St. Michael’s ran out comfortable winners on a scoreline of St. Michael’s 0-14 Cloughaneely 0-4.
