BJ Banda expected to make Ulster Senior League switch from Finn Harps

BJ Banda is being tipped to make a move into the Ulster Senior League with the striker’s time at Finn Harps up.

Banda featured for Irish League Championship side Dergview in a friendly on Saturday against Coleraine, playing in the first half of an 8-0 defeat.

However, Banda is not expected now to make a switch to the Darragh Park outfit and, instead, is expected to put pen to paper with Letterkenny Rovers in the Ulster Senior League.

Banda joined Harps from Rovers and, in spite of his heroics to lift Harps into the Premier Division three years ago hasn’t kicked on to nail down a regular place in Ollie Horgan’s plans.

The 20-year-old’s game time has been minimal this season and is now likely to move to Eamonn McConigley’s Rovers, who recently added ex-Harps player Jonny Bonner to their ranks.

Banda gained iconic status at Finn Park after his memorable goal against Limerick in the dying seconds of the 2015 promotion-relegation play-off final in Ballybofey and last year netted in a 2-0 away win over Derry City at Maginn Park.
