Dunkineely to hold public meeting about future of post office

Dunkineely is to strongly oppose the closure of its local post office.

The village has organised a public meeting which will take place in the local community centre at 8pm this evening.

The meeting is to be held to see what ways the area can go about retaining some form of postal service on the ground.

Dunkineely is one of 13 post offices across Donegal set to close between now and next January as part of An Post’s voluntary closure scheme.

Many post officer operators have been offered redundancy packages from An Post after many years of service.

However, as part of that deal, An Post will not continue the service within the area.
