A body that was recovered from the River Foyle this morning has been confirmed as that of missing Derry man Martin Crumlish.

The 26-year-old had not been seen since Saturday, August 4 and extensive searches had taken place on both sides of the Derry-Donegal border.

Martin was last seen walking on the Ballougry Road, heading in the Carrigans direction last Wednesday afternoon.

This morning, the PSNI and Foyle Search and Rescue recovered his body from the river.

His death is not being treated as suspicious. Martin’s family have thanked those who joined efforts to find him.

“Martin’s family have asked me to thank everyone involved in trying to locate him there is too many to name individually, your help is as always greatly appreciated,” the PSNI said.
