Local man Emmet McNamee was announced the Champion of the popular fitness challenge in front of over 50 of his fitness family, who gathered for the end of summer celebration in Century Complex, Letterkenny.

He was presented with the grand prize of €1000 holiday from Emmet Rushe, owner of Rushe Fitness.

Emmet was awarded the grand prize based on his positive and subtle approach to the challenge.  A busy husband and father, Emmet has had a busy summer renovating his home, and yet he still made time for the gym, the challenges and creating some incredible video footage of his summer fitness journey.  He was so shocked when his name was called out, and had already started to applaud the winner before realising it was him!

Second Prize of a €500 holiday voucher was sponsored by the challenge partners, Atlantic Travel and was presented to the very deserving Pete Rose.  Pete’s constant drive and motivation of others in the community was applauded and appreciated by all members.

Other prizes were sponsored by Michael Murphy Sports and Leisure, The Shandon Hotel and Spa, Noel O’ Donnell Chartered Accountants, Kelly’s American Roadside Diner and Century Complex and these were awarded to members for their enthusiasm, kindness and personal achievements, as well as for encouraging and motivating others. The recipients of these prizes were Bryan Margey, Vicki Raine, Charlene Haughey, Marina Heron and Lorraine Gibson.

Speaking to Donegal Daily this morning, Emmet Rushe said: “I wish I could have given everyone a prize.  Every single one of them is a winner. Whether they’ve just begun on their fitness journey, or have been in our fitness family for the past four years, we appreciate every one of them and are proud of them all.

“They’re an incredible bunch of people and this challenge has reminded me of just how special the Rushe Fitness Community is.

Century Complex showcased their new function room in style last night, where AnneMarie and her team had pulled out all the stops for the event.

“As always, Mark and his staff make us feel as if we’re at home here. The staff are so helpful, the food was great and it’s been the perfect venue for our party” said Rushe.

Emmet also thanked Emma at Atlantic Travel for being partners in this year’s challenge. He thanked his team and all of the supporters and sponsors of prizes.

The event was streamed live on the Rushe Fitness Page where it was viewed by almost 2000 viewers last night.
