Double in Kerry inches Browne-McMonagle closer to record number of wins

Dylan Browne McMonagle made the long journey to Glenbeigh in Co Kerry at the weekend where the teenager recorded a double.

On Saturday Obi One Kinobi took the 143cm pony race and Dylan took the feature race the Glenbeigh Derby where he guided the prolific Half Price to glory making it back-to-back wins in the event.

The Letterkenny native has 72 wins for the season now.

With just one race meeting left in the Northwest region – in Garvagh Co Derry next Sunday 9th of September – and just one in the Southern region, Dylan needs four winners if he is to draw level with Jack Kennedy’s all time record haul of 76 winners that was recorded a few years ago.

Browne McMonagle, no matter what happens, has had an outstanding year in the plate winning both Northwest Champion jockey titles and was Champion Jockey for a record third time in Dingle this year.

The Letterkenny lad has all but rubber stamped the All-Ireland National Title.
