We have six nominees for our latest Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub Sports Person of the Week, in association with O’Reilly’s.

Each weekly award winner will receive a kitbag, a jersey and a half-zip, supplied by O’Reilly’s.

The award winner will be chosen via a public vote from a shortlist selected by our panel.

O’Reilly’s Sportswear was founded in 2017 by well-known Twin Towns sporting brothers Steven and Martin O’Reilly.

Our poll closes at noon on Thursday.

Lauren Carr

Gaeil Fhánada captured the Donegal junior ladies championship on Sunday – and Lauren Carr was the big player in the win. Carr scored 2-6 as Gaeil Fhánada won 5-9 to 3-7. Carr struck an early goal and powered clear of the Naomh Muire defence to fire in a second.

Daragh Ellison

A captain who led by example, Daragh Ellison looked the coolest person at Finn Harps when he stood over an 87th minute penalty in Saturday’s Mark Farren Cup final. Ellison promptly smashed the penalty into the Town End net to give Harps a memorable and historic 1-0 win over Cork City. Left-back Ellison has already been on the Harps first team squad and this was another example of a maturing player who has a big future.

Odhrán Fallon

Dungloe bridged a gap back to the famed Rosses Rovers when they defeated Aodh Ruadh 3-12 to 1-10 in Friday evening’s U14 Championship final in Convoy. Fallon hit 1-4 and was a constant menace as Dungloe took the prize – a first title at this level since 1980. Fallon terrorised Aodh Ruadh for the duration of the hour.

Erin Fildara

Republic of Ireland Schools international Erin Fildara scored a whopping FIVE goals in Saturday evening’s U16 Ulster Cup final as Sea Rovers defeated Lagan Harps at The Lakeside. Fildara’s talents have been obvious for some time – and this was just the latest proof of her class.

Cormac Finn

St Eunan’s proved much too strong last Wednesday for Naomh Padraig in the Donegal Minor Championship final. St Eunan’s were 3-14 to 1-8 winners. Cormac Finn had an excellent hour for the black and amber and led the way in an excellent win for Pauric Ryan’s team.

Sinead McConnell

Sinead McConnell had been a fine athlete in her young days, but gave it up for 28 years. However, what a week the Castlefin native has had – winning two bronze medals at the World Masters Athletics Championships in Malaga.

On Monday, she won a bronze in the 10k race, having last week won a bronze in the 5k. McConnell surged to bronze in that 5k with a new Donegal record, breaking Ann McGill’s record as she finished in 27:01.46.
