Emma Harper was the hat-trick hero as Raphoe ladies surged into the second round of the Ulster Senior Cup.

Three goals in an eight-minute period at the start of the second half saw Raphoe ease through.

Harper’s opening goal, in the 13th minute, had Raphoe narrowly in front after the first period, but the home side put the issue beyond doubt early in part two.

Harper doubled the lead in the 36th minute. Lyndsay Tinney and Leanne Patterson worked the chance and Harper riffled home from ten yards.

Sabrina Barnett and Harper both went close before Raphoe made it 3-0 in the 41st minute.

Harper latched onto a long ball forward, beat a defender, rounded goalkeeper Lauren Hanna and tucked home her third.

Two minutes later, Raphoe added another as Leanne Patterson found the bottom corner in style and it was Patterson who netted Raphoe’s final goal, steering home in the 53rd minute.

Harper had given Raphoe the lead with the game’s first opening. Wendy Patterson’s wonderful play helped create the opening and Harper tapped home.

Raphoe were dominating and had a number of chances to double the advantage.

Barnett teed up Arlyne Kilpatrick, whose shot was well blocked.

Harper was denied by CI goalkeeper Hanna while a dangerous centre from Rebecca Wauchope evaded everyone in the circle.

CI did have a big chance to draw level, but a superb save from the under-worked Catherine Mehaffey in the Raphoe goal denied Leah Tepnahen.
