Sean MacCumhaills backed up an impressive opening win over Milford as Aaron Kelly’s hat-trick saw them defeat Killybegs this afternoon.

Sean MacCumhaills 3-12 Killybegs 0-15

After hitting four goals last weekend, Bernard McGeehan’s men hit three more today – with Kelly bagging all three.

Killybegs lined out without Eoghan Ban Gallagher and his absence was a telling factory.

MacCumhaills hit the front when Kelly fired a penalty past Kevin Martin with not even two minutes played.

When Martin O’Reilly fed Kelly to tee up a second three-pointer, it was already becoming a dangerous afternoon for Killybegs.

Just two minutes later, Kelly struck gold again.

There were only five points in it at half-time, but MacCumhaills broke out with Steven O’Reilly, their captain, adding the first point of the second period.

They might have added a fourth goal, but Brian Lafferty was denied by the crossbar.

Killybegs inched their way back into it, but Gary Wilson and Oisin Gallen steadied the MacCumhaills jitters.

Killybegs went to within four points, but couldn’t get any closer and MacCumhaills are heading into the last eight.
