Cockhill duo hoping to get a slice of action in Regions Cup on Wednesday

Jimmy Bradley and Peter Doherty will hope to get into the action on Wednesday when the Republic of Ireland Regions Cup side take on West Slovakia in Romania.

The Cockhill Celtic pair were unused substitutes as Gerry Davis’ Ireland lost 2-1 to Buzau (Romania) yesterday in Romania.

Ireland now need a win against West Slovakia and hope that North Riding Football League (England) get a result against Buzau (Romania).

Ireland failed to live up to their ranking of number two in Europe against an efficient Romanian side who took a 2-0 lead with 15-minutes to go with goals from midfielder Dragos Ionita and substitute Mihai Modruz.

With four minutes to go Stephen Kelly pulled one back for the Republic after some excellent work by Mark Horgan at the back post, but we never really threatened the Romanian keeper who had very little to do all night.
