Leah Gallen has officially been named on the Irish squad for next month’s European Junior Championships.

The Raphoe ABC welterweight is one of 26 boxers (13 male and 13 female) named for the Championships which take place in Anapa, Russia.

Gallen won Irish Girl 5 and Senior Cadet titles this year and will make her international debut when she represents Ireland by the Black Sea.

Boxing at the European Juniors begins on October 9.

In her recent Cadet final, Gallen stopped Sophia Hopkova and is a boxer in real form.

That title was her second of 2018 having beaten Keisha Attwell in the Girl 5 final at 66kgs.

Earlier in her career, Gallen won an Irish schoolgirl title while in the colours of Finn Valley ABC.
