Cockhill Celtic duo Peter Doherty and Jimmy Bradley played from the start yesterday as the Republic of Ireland Regions Cup side drew with North Riding.

In their final UEFA Regions qualifying match in Romania, the Irish played out a 1-1 draw with the English outfit.

Shane Ryan netted a late equaliser for the Irish side.

Cockhill pair Doherty and Bradley were named in the starting XI by manager Gerry Davis for the game.

Doherty has played in the mid-week draw with West Slovakia.

Doherty and Bradley had both been unused substitutes in the opening game, a 2-1 defeat to the hosts, the Buzau Region.

Indeed, Doherty created a little bit of history as he became the first player from the Ulster Senior League’s ranks to feature in the Regions Cup when he played against West Slovakia.
