They say you should save for a rainy day.

But West Donegal priest Fr Brian O Fearragh prefers to shave rather than save.

The cleric is renowned for his long locks.

But some months back he vowed to have them al cut off for charity.

And now the Gweedore Youth Centre is a cool €10,550.15 better off as a result.

Fr Brian took to social media to thank those who helped him ‘shave’ the cash.

He said “Thanks to each and every one of you! Huge kudos to all the support team who worked so hard, and especially to everyone who helped and donated to my Head and Beard shave fundraising endeavour in aid of the Gweedore Youth Centre.

“All monies raised will assist in the support and enhancement of vital Youth Services in our community. The funds will specifically go toward, the provision of a dedicated Youth Drop-In Centre for the young people of the community.”

Well done Fr Brian – just don’t let all this attention go to your head!

….and Fr Brian after the chop!
