CCC confirm venues and times for senior championship semi-finals

The Donegal Competitions Controls Committee (CCC) have confirmed the arrangements for next weekend’s Donegal senior football championship semi-finals.

Naomh Conaill and Glenswilly will meet next Saturday, October 6, at Sean MacCumhaill Park in Ballybofey at 7pm.

On Sunday, at O’Donnell Park in Letterkenny, Sean MacCumhaills will face Gaoth Dobhair.

On Saturday evening, the Junior C final between Glenfin and St Eunan’s will precede the Naomh Conaill-Glenswilly game. The Junior C final will throw-in in at 5pm.

Dr Maguire will be heading to a new destination again for the winter months after holders Kilcar were beaten 1-9 to 0-6 by Naomh Conaill in Donegal Town.

Kieran Gallagher’s goal in injury time and two late points by Brendan McDyer sealed a win that wasn’t as comfortable than the six-point margin suggests.

Kilcar were already without Patrick McBrearty and Ryan McHugh and their task got stiffer still when Mark McHugh had to go off early on due to a shoulder injury.

Naomh Conaill and Glenswilly have had plenty of memorable and not-so-memorable tussles in recent years.

Glenswilly have yet to catch fire in this Championship, but remain a menacing proposition with Neil Gallagher and Michael Murphy still in telepathic communication.

Their 0-12 to 0-5 win over Four Masters on Saturday night was, as Murphy observed, a case of ‘job done’.

Sean MacCumhaills were the surprise winners of the weekend as they defeated St Michael’s in the first quarter-final. MacCumhaills are in the last four for the first time since 2004.

First-half goals by Martin Gallagher and Martin O’Reilly gave them a 2-10 to 0-13 win.

Their reward – if it can be termed a reward – is a meeting with Gaoth Dobhair. The red-hot Championship favourites hit eight goals in a stunning 8-13 to 3-12 win over Bundoran in Ballybofey this afternoon.

The venues, days and times for the Senior B, Intermediate and Intermediate B semi-finals, as well as the relegation play-offs, have yet to be finalised.
