Donegal County Council has confirmed that it is to address what has been described as a “death trap” on a local beach.
Local environmentalist Enda Craig raised the issue of tidal holes at Sweet Nellie’s Beach in Greencastle.
The issues sees holes of up to six feet in depth appearing at the beach during tides.
Mr Craig raised the issue recently and warned that older people or children could suddenly find themselves in the deep holes.
Now Donegal County Council is to address the issue and fill in what appears to be the largest hole on the beach.
A spokesperson confirmed to Donegal Daily “Donegal County Council is proposing to have a JCB fill the hole. This work is being coordinated to coincide with low tide.”
