Mona McSharry was fourth in the 50m breaststroke final this evening at the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aries.

McSharry swam a season’s beat 31.96 seconds, but finished just outside the medals.

A member of the Marlin’s Swimming Club in Ballyshannon, McSharry – who hails from the village of Grange in north County Sligo – had swam 32.01 seconds in her semi-final.

Irish team-mate Niamh Coyle was fifth in 32.02 in the final.

World Junior gold medallist McSharry will also compete in the 100m breaststroke, 200m breaststroke and the 50m freestyle.
